Yankee Doodle Lilac
Yankee Doodle Lilac has the deepest and darkest purple blooms in the lilac family. The leaves are heart shaped with a blue-green color. The leaves do not change in the fall. The blooms have a strong, sweet fragrance. Plant it close to windows or a patio where you can smell the fragrance and enjoy the blooms. Yankee Doodle Lilac likes to be planted in full sun.
Yankee Doodle Lilac with grow to a height of 8' to 10' tall and 5' to 6' wide. This would make a lovely specimen planting, or in a cottage garden, or shrub border. Yankee Doodle Lilac is drought tolerant and a Firewise plant.
Hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies are attracted to the blooming flowers. They make great cut flowers, so bring in some blooms and enjoy the fragrance indoors. Lilacs are also deer resistant!
