Lacinato Kale is an Italian Heirloom with blue-green leaves. It will grow from 2' to 3' tall and just as wide. This is one of the veggies that is classified as a Superfood! It is packed with nutrition.
Lacinato Kale will take a frost making it a great early spring planting in your garden. Lacinto Kale goes by many other names such as Dinosaur Kale, Tuscan Kale, Flat Black Kale, and Palm Tree Kale. It has been a favorite since the 1700's and even Thomas Jefferson grew it at Monticello. Lacinto Kale likes to be planted in full sun and takes 45 to 80 days to mature. Use Lacinto Kale fresh in salads, blanched, braised, or broiled. Lacinto Kale freezes well for great veggie side dishes during the winter. Use in soups, stews, stir frys, and casseroles. Mix with Scarlet Kale for some colorful and nutritious dishes. You can even use Lacinato Kale in a combination basket or pot on your porch or patio.
