Flashing Lights Dianthus
Flashing Lights Dianthus is a lovely, old-fashioned favorite. This is a fast growing Dianthus with red flowers which bloom from late spring to late summer. The foliage is grey-green. It will grow to a height of 6" to 8" and 12" to 18" wide. It will benefit from shearing back after the first flush of blooms. The foliage is evergreen, so do not cut back for winter. Keeping the flowers deadheaded will increase the blooming time. Flashing Lights Dianthus likes to be planted in full sun.
Use Flashing Lights Dianthus for edging, ground cover, massed in a perennial or landscape bed, containers, covering banks, cascading around rocks or over walls. This plant will go well in a cottage garden. Flashing Lights Dianthus attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. It is also deer resistant and drought tolerant once it is established.
