Native Strawberry
Native Strawberry makes an excellent ground cover and will spread by runners. I will have white flowers that develop into small stawberries. The berries are very small but are edible. It has dark green leaves that turn from burgundy to red in the fall and will remain semi-evergreen through the winter. Native Strawberry will bloom and produce fruit from mid spring to early fall.
Bees are attracted to the flowers and birds are attracted to the fruit. Plant Native Strawberry in full sun to part shade and moist, well drained soil. Use Native Strawberry as a groundcover or a filler for bare areas where some foliage would be nice. It is a pretty hardy plant in our area. 4" $4.99 |
