Kobold Gayfeather is selected from one of our native prairie wildflowers. It forms a low clump of grassy looking green leaves which turn yellow in the fall. The bright -purple flowers are borne on tall spikes beginning in early summer and lasting until early fall. Kobold Gayfeather likes to be planted in full sun. It will grow to a height of 20" to 24" and 12" to 18" wide.
Use Kobold Gayfeather in a sunny border or meadow garden, containers or as a border. It attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Kobold Gayfeather makes a great cut flower. It is deer resistant and drought tolerant once it is established. It is also a Firewise plant.
Clumps may be easily divided every 3 to 4 years in the spring. When in bloom, the plants may need to be staked.
