Kannah Creek Buckwheat is a 2007 Plant Select Winner. It is a evergreen perennial that is low growing. It has four seasons of garden interest which makes this plant a real winner. It is covered with bright yellow flowers in late spring through mid-summer. As the season progresses, the flowers turn to orange and rusty-red. The foliage is a gray-green and turns to a burgundy color for the winter. It will grow to a height of 12" to 15" tall and 12" to 24" wide. Kannah Creek Buckwheat likes to be planted in partial sun.
 
Use this plant as a groundcover, in a rock garden, moon garden, or massed in a perennial bed. Kannah Creek Buckwheat is drought tolerant                                                                          making it an excellent xeriscaping plant. It is deer resistant, attracts birds                                                                        who are attracted to the seed, butterflies and bees are attracted to the                                                                          flowers, makes a good cut flower (cut before fully mature), and is also a                                                                        Firewise plant.
