Patty's Plum Poppy

Patty's Plum Poppy is an Oriental Poppy and will provide a cheerful display of plum petaled flowers which bloom from mid to late spring. The centers of each poppy are almost black. The plant forms a low clump of gray- green leaves and will go dormant after flowering and will completely disappear by early fall. Plant Patty's Plum Poppy with other plantings that will cover up their spot in the garden as they disappear.

This Poppy will grow to a height of 24" to 30" tall and 18" to 24" wide. Plant Patty's Plum Poppy in full sun in well-drained soil. When in bloom, they will attract butterflies and bees and they make a great cut flower. Deer tends to stay away from poppies and they will work well in containers. Patty's Plum Poppy is also a Firewise plant.

You can plant Patty's Plum Poppy in an old-fashioned Cottage Garden or try this one in a Rock Garden. They will become drought tolerant once they are established and the will self-seed. You can also use poppies to naturalize an area in your yard or pasture.
