Nanking Cherry
Nanking Cherry is a smaller growing tree that will bear cherries usually their second year. The cherries are a bit on the tart side and are great for jams, jellies, and pies. It will grow from 6' to 8' tall and just as wide. In late spring it is loaded with fragrant white flowers with a pink tinge. Pollinators are highly attracted to Nanking Cherry. The cherries will ripen in mid to late summer.
Nanking Cherry likes to be planted in full sun and well-drained soil. Nanking Cherry will benefit with a pollinator close by. Use Sapalta Cherry Plum or another cherry tree for cross pollination. This will yield a heavier crop. Wildlife and birds are attracted to the cherries. Place bird netting over the shrub to protect the cherries if you wish to harvest the cherries. #2 $24.99 |
