The Velvet Pillar Crabapple produces red buds that open to rosy, pink flowers in spring. This tree puts on a spectacular spring show. It produces crimson red fruits in the fall. The fruits are edible and can be used to make cider, or jam. The leaves are purplish with a velvety look, turning burgundy in the fall. Performing best in full sun, it is a medium growing, tight, upright, deciduous tree. It will grow from 18' to 20' tall and from 10' to 12' wide.
