Diablo Ninebark is a fast-growing shrub. It has deep burgundy leaves that turn red in the fall. The blossoms emerge in late spring to early summer and are white button-like blooms. They pop out against the darker foliage. Plant this shrub in full sun for the best foliage color. In late summer, the blossoms produce red seed capsules that are very attractive. This shrub also has peeling bark which adds additional interest.
It grows to a height of 8' to 10' tall and 8' to 10' wide. Use it
as a specimen, accent, hedging, shrub border, screening,
or a grouping. The flowers and foliage are great for cutting
and putting in flower arrangements.
Diablo Ninebark is attractive to bees, hummingbirds,
butterflies and birds. It is drought tolerant once it is
established and it is a Firewise plant. All parts of this plant
are poisonous if eaten.
