Summer Sun Sunflower
Summer Sun Sunflower are known as False Sunflowers as they look like a sunflower but are not the seed bearing variety. These flowers are a long standing favorite of many of the early settlers. They are care-free and produce blooms from early summer to the fall.
They will grow from 3' to 4' tall and from 18" to 24" wide forming a bushy clump. They have dark green leaves and produce large, semi-double, golden-yellow daisy flowers with a brown center. They make a great cut flower and will attract butterflies and hummingbirds. It is also deer resistant. Deadheading the spent flowers will extend the blooming season.
This variety may require staking. Summer Sun Sunflower likes to be planted in full sun. You can divide this perennial in early spring. Summer Sun Sunflower likes regular watering so don't allow to dry out. Plant Summer Sun Sunflower as a specimen, or as a
taller flower in a perennial border.
