Pagan Purples Delphinium

Pagan Purples Delphinium has a multitude of deep purple flowers that are displayed on flower spikes in early to mid summer. Cut spent flower spikes to encourage reblooming in the fall. This delphinium reaches a height of 4 ' to 6' and 18" to 24" width. It has medium green foliage that fades to yellow in the fall. Use a high phosphorous fertilizer each year, in early spring. Plant Pagan Purples Delphinium in full sun.
Use this perennial massed in a perennial or landscape bed, in a perennial border or a cottage garden. Pagan Purples Delphinium makes an exceptional cut flower and will attract birds, and hummingbirds. It is deer resistant and is also a Firewise plant.
Cut back lanky or bent stems to force new growth at the base. Cut off spent seed heads unless you wish for the plant to reseed. Birds will be attracted to the seed if left on the plant. Staking will probably be required, especially if you live in a windy location.
Pagan Purples Delphinium is a Heritage Perennials® Top 10 Perennial for 2006.
NOTE: All parts of Delphinium plants are toxic if eaten.
