Hot Summer Echinacea

Hot Summer Echinacea is a colorful addition to your perennial garden. The fragrant flowers change color as they age. The flowers first open yellow-orange but gradually change to orange and finally a deep red. There are often a large number of different flower colors appearing on the same plant at the same time. It has medium, green leaves. Plant Hot Summer Echinacea in full sun or partial sun.
This selection is a compact perennial that blooms from late spring through late summer and up until the first frost. Echinacea are also known as Coneflowers and make a great show when planted in mass. It will grow to a height of 14" to 22" and 18" to 22" in width.
Hot Summer Echinacea goes well in a mixed flower garden, in a perennial border, or as a specimen. Hot Summer Echinacea attracts hummingbirds, butterflies, bees, and songbirds which enjoy the seeds in the big cone heads. It is deer resistant and it is drought tolerant once it is established. It also makes a great cut flower and is a Firewise plant. You can even use this perennial in a container.
If you don't cut this perennial down in fall, you will even gain some fall and winter interest from the foliage and it will provide food for birds. Divide clumps when they become overcrowded (about every 4 years).
