Cornelian Cherry Dogwood This shrub is ‘Mountain Grown’ at Alpha Nursery and is an ‘Idaho Preferred’ Plant.

Cornelian Cherry Dogwood is a rounded shrub or tree. You can use this shrub as a hedge or natural border for screening or you can train it to become shaped as a tree. It does best in moist, rich, soil. The leaves are dark green and it flowers in early early spring. The flowers are yellow which will form red edible berries. The berries are somewhat sour eaten directly from the shrub but make great syrups and preserves. Cornelian Cherry Dogwood likes to be planted in full sun or partial sun.
Cornelian Cherry Dogwood is useful as a specimen plant, accent, shrub border, hedge, or plant in a Woodland Garden. Plant singly or in groups for early spring color. It is also deer resistant but will attract wildlife and birds who are attracted by the berries in midsummer.
