Contorted Filbert is also known as Harry Lauder's Walking Stick. It is a decidiuous shrub that will grow from 8' to 10' tall and just as wide. You can train this shrub into a small tree form by pruning the branches. The reason it is called a 'Contorted' Filbert is due to it growth habit and leaves. The branches go all different directions as they grow and the leaves are also contorted. This shrub makes a very interesting addtions to any landscape.
In spring, long catkins will adorn the twisted branches. Use Contorted Filbert in a hedge or as a specimen plant. It also had much winter interest with snow on the twisted branches. Contorted Filbert will also grow well in containers. Plant Contorted Filbert in full sun to part shade in moist, well drained soil.
