Banana Cream Viola

Banana Cream Viola is a small mounding flowering perennial that will give you color all season when planted in a cool area of the yard or in a container. It will do well in the sun during the spring and fall but goes semi-dormant in the heat to the summer unless it is in a cooler area. The leaves are a dark green and the blossoms have white upper petals, white petals splashed with yellow in the middle and yellow lower petals. The flowers are fragrant. Cut this plant back by half around mid-June.
Use Banana Cream Viola massed in a perennial bed, as a border plant, in a container, Alpine garden, or a Rock Garden. It will grow to a height of 4" to 6" tall and 6" to 8" wide. This is a great choice for some early spring color as it will take frosts and light freezes well. The flowers are edible, so use them to dress up a salad or adorn a cake.
