Artichoke
Green Globe Artichoke
Green Globe Artichoke is an heirloom perennial that has silvery-green leaves. In our zone, grow as an annual. It is best to plant older plants due to the short growing season we have in our area. I have had success in the past with mulching the plants before winter and overwintered it in the ground.
It will grow from 3' to 4' high and just as wide. Green Globe Artichoke will produce from 3 to 4 buds that will develop into artichoke heads within 120 days. If you don't harvest the heads, they will turn into a pretty purple thistle like flower. Green Globe Artichoke is grown as a vegetable and also as an ornamental plant. Plant in full sun and well drained soil. Quart $5.99 |
